Welcome

After successfully concluding my Fulbright in Jamaica, it's on to the next step . . . graduate school. This blog will document my journey through the M.A./Ph.D. program in Anthropology and the path toward becoming a professional archaeologist. Forgive me as the posts will likely be sporadic and at times extraneous.

Quote of the Week #2

The quote this week comes from someone who was instrumental in organizing and theorizing the Civil Rights Movement. She largely worked behind-the-scenes training and mentoring many of those whom would become famous in the movement.

In the words of Ella Baker: "You didn't see me on television, you didn't see news stories about me. The kind of role that I tried to play was to pick up pieces or put together pieces out of which I hoped organization might come. My theory is, strong people don't need strong leaders." (Participatory Democracy)
