Welcome

After successfully concluding my Fulbright in Jamaica, it's on to the next step . . . graduate school. This blog will document my journey through the M.A./Ph.D. program in Anthropology and the path toward becoming a professional archaeologist. Forgive me as the posts will likely be sporadic and at times extraneous.

Quote of the Week #3

This week's quote isn't a quote at all but is something that I think many of you would find very enlightening and has been keeping me entertained out here in Jamaica. For those of you in Washington, DC, you can tune into Dr. Jared Ball's radio show "Jazz and Justice" on WPFW every Monday from 1:00 -3:00 pm. But for those of the us who are out of town, you can go to VoxUnion and stream the past episodes free online. Dr. Ball covers a lot of issues from Chris Rock's movie, "Good Hair" to Robin Kelley's new biography on Thelonious Monk. For this week's show he had the newly appointed Chair of the Afr0-American Studies Department at Howard University, Dr. Gregory Carr discussing everything from DuBois to Obama. Hope you enjoy. The music is good too.
